Addepar Integration

Access Instructions for API Setup

Creating New User & Enabling API Access

Create the New User

Log in to Addepar as an Admin. Go to Firm Administration → Users → Add User.

Enter:

  • * First Name: Milemarker, Last Name: Org
  • * Email: client_role@milemarker.co
  • * Role Assignment: create a new 'custom role' (see step 2)

Assign Required Permissions

For API extraction capabilities, the role should include:

Core Permission

* API Access → "Create, edit, and delete"

Portfolios & Analysis Views

  • * Analysis firm and team views: View only
  • * Portfolio View: Read only

Transactions

  • * Transactions: View only
  • * Transactions firm view: View only

Jobs (for large exports via API)

  • * Jobs: View and create
  • * Transaction Jobs: Create and download

Apply Permissions

In the new user's Permissions tab, make sure they inherit the role created above. Double check the data scope (make sure All Data).

Generate API Credentials

Go to Firm Administration → Firm Settings → API Access Key. Click + New API Key, add a description, and submit.

Copy the API Key and Secret. Send to Milemarker (connect@milemarker.co) using the secure portal Password Link.

Notify Milemarker

Let Milemarker know once new user credentials have been created.

Obtain Firm ID

Open Analysis Tool

Within Addepar, open the Analysis tool (any table/view).

Click Export

Click Export (above the table).

Generate API URL

Choose Generate API URL.

Note: If you don't see "Generate API URL", this user does not have the proper API access.

Copy the Firm ID

In the generated URL, copy the number after "addepar_firm=....." That value is the Firm ID.

Send Firm ID

Send the Firm ID through the secure portal Password Link to connect@milemarker.co.

Generate Portfolio Query Request

Select a Portfolio

Go to Analysis & Reporting and select a Portfolio.

Click Analysis Tab

Click the Analysis tab.

Access API Options

In the upper right corner of the table, click the "..." button.

Access View Using API

Click Access view using API.

Select Query API

Select Query API and click Next.

Copy Code Tree

In the upper right corner of the code tree, click copy.

Note: If a code tree does not generate, it is not supported for this portfolio.

Send Code Tree

Send the code tree through the secure portal Password Link to connect@milemarker.co.

Reminder

Please use the email client_role@milemarker.co when setting up Milemarker's user credentials.
