Workflow Builder

Learn how to create powerful automated workflows in Command Center with our visual workflow builder.

Creating Your First Workflow

1

Navigate to Command Center

From the main dashboard, click on "Command Center" in the navigation menu or access it through Settings > Automation > Command Center.

2

Click "Create New Workflow"

You'll see a list of existing workflows. Click the "Create New Workflow" button in the top right corner to open the workflow builder.

3

Name Your Workflow

Give your workflow a descriptive name (e.g., "Birthday Outreach - VIP Clients") and optionally add a description to help your team understand its purpose.

4

Choose a Trigger

Select what event will start this workflow. Options include data changes, scheduled times, manual triggers, or external events.

5

Add Conditions (Optional)

Set up filters to control when actions should execute. For example, "only if AUM > $500,000" or "only if client segment = VIP".

6

Configure Actions

Add the actions your workflow should take - send emails, create tasks, update records, notify team members, or trigger other workflows.

7

Test and Activate

Use the test feature to simulate your workflow with sample data. Once satisfied, toggle the workflow to "Active" to enable it.

Understanding the Builder Interface

Visual Canvas

The main workspace where you build your workflow visually. Drag and drop triggers, conditions, and actions to create your automation flow.

Component Library

The sidebar contains all available triggers, conditions, and actions. Browse categories or search to find the components you need.

Properties Panel

When you select a component, this panel shows its configuration options. Set timing, specify data fields, customize messages, and more.

Run History

View past executions of your workflow, including success/failure status, timing, and detailed logs for troubleshooting.

Best Practices

Start Simple

Begin with straightforward workflows and add complexity as you become familiar with the system.

Use Descriptive Names

Name workflows clearly so your team can understand their purpose at a glance (e.g., "New Client Welcome - Send Day 1 Email").

Test Before Activating

Always use the test feature with sample data before enabling a workflow in production.

Monitor Run History

Regularly check workflow execution logs to ensure everything runs as expected and catch any issues early.

Document Your Workflows

Use the description field to document the workflow's purpose, any special considerations, and who to contact with questions.
